The Ferndale Team

At Ferndale, we aim to be a community of Spirit-filled servants of Jesus who know, grow, and show God’s love.

Peter Kenniphaas

Peter began his pastoral ministry in Toronto in 1989 and has pastored churches in other parts of Ontario and British Columbia. Peter is married to Barbara, and they have four children and a number of grandchildren. Peter’s passion is to see people come to know and love Jesus Christ and to see their lives transformed within the context of a loving, supportive, and safe community of believers. Peter also has a heart for missions, particularly in the training and equipping of pastors and leaders in other countries. Peter also likes to engage in a number of outdoor recreational activities and enjoys working out regularly at a local gym.

Jim Welch

Jim was hired as Ferndale’s Associate Pastor in October 2006. As a long-time member of Ferndale, Jim has worked in a wide variety of ministry areas; this helps round out his position as Associate Pastor. Jim’s focus is in adult ministries, such as people connections, pastoral care, leadership, and oversight of the small group ministry. Jim is married to Penny and they have two children.

Cheryl Riley

Cheryl joined the staff at Ferndale as the Director of Children’s Ministry in September 2007. She has a love for children and has enjoyed ministering to children for many years. Cheryl’s desire is to support and work together with parents in raising their children to really know and love the Lord. Cheryl is married to Peter and they have three children.

Amy Salmans

Amy and her family have been part of the Ferndale family since 2011.  Amy began participating in Ferndale’s worship ministry in 2014 and joined the staff as Worship Director in 2018. Amy has a heart for Worship Ministry and has spent many years volunteering in music ministries in different church settings.

Adam Hannaford

Adam joined the staff at Ferndale in August 2020. He and his wife Rebekah are passionate about serving in the local church. Adam oversees both our Youth and Young Adults Ministries at Ferndale. It is his desire to see students in Peterborough come into life-changing relationships with Jesus. Adam is passionate about teaching the Word of God and seeks to come alongside and aid others in their walk with Christ.
